Blackwater Falls in Tucker County is the landmark: a 57-foot amber-stained waterfall caused by tannic acid from fallen spruce and hemlock, with a boardwalk overlook. Sandstone Falls on the New River is the widest waterfall in the eastern US — a broad drop across the full river channel — accessible by boardwalk.
