Waterfalls in Nevada

Nevada's waterfalls are rare in desert terrain but significant where they exist. Proxy Falls near Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park is a spring-fed fall in alpine terrain at 10,000 feet. King Canyon Falls above Reno in the Toiyabe National Forest is a seasonal fall accessible from a trailhead off the Mount Rose Highway. Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains east of Elko has waterfall features in the glacier-carved canyon accessed by a paved forest road. Most Nevada waterfall geography is in the mountain ranges that ring the Great Basin — most require a significant drive and a hike on unmaintained trails.
