Swimming Holes in Wyoming

7 Sites Found Public & Accessible Land

Wyoming's swimming holes are alpine and brief. Slide Lake near Kelly in the Bridger-Teton has clear snowmelt swimming above the Gros Ventre River valley. Sinks Canyon near Lander has pools along the Popo Agie River where the water reappears from the underground passage. Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park is 60°F maximum in August — fast swimmers only. The Wind River Range has dozens of high alpine lakes above 10,000 feet, swimmable for about six weeks per year in mid-August.

Always check current conditions before visiting — water levels, algae advisories, and access roads change seasonally. Never swim alone in remote sites. Tell someone your plans. Explore all swimming holes on the Trek4Free map →
