INTO THE WILD · SWIMMING HOLES
Wisconsin swimming is at inland lakes and the rivers of the Driftless Area in the southwest. The Wisconsin River below the Dells has swimming in the sandstone gorge sections away from the waterpark attractions. Blue Hole in the Wolf River drainage has cold spring-fed swimming in Langlade County — local knowledge required. The Kickapoo River in the Driftless Area meanders through a landscape that looks nothing like the rest of Wisconsin, with swimming in the broad curves of the valley.
Always check current conditions before visiting — water levels, algae advisories, and access roads change seasonally. Never swim alone in remote sites. Tell someone your plans. Explore all swimming holes on the Trek4Free map →
