Swimming Holes in Mississippi

20 Sites Found Public & Accessible Land

Mississippi's swimming geography is limited — the state is mostly river delta and coastal plain. The DeSoto National Forest in the south has swimming at the Sandy Creek Nature Area. The Noxubee River in the northeast corner has some informal swimming access in the Hill Country. For significant swimming hole geography, Mississippi residents typically drive east into Alabama or north into Tennessee, both of which have much richer water terrain within a few hours of the state line.

Always check current conditions before visiting — water levels, algae advisories, and access roads change seasonally. Never swim alone in remote sites. Tell someone your plans. Explore all swimming holes on the Trek4Free map →
