Hawaii's swimming geography is entirely coastal — lava pools, ocean bays, and the occasional freshwater waterfall pool. Queens Bath on Kauai's North Shore is a lava shelf pool filled by the ocean — genuinely dangerous in winter, swimmable in calm summer conditions. Waimea Canyon's Kokee State Park has cold stream swimming in the upper drainage. Judd Trail on Oahu has a swimming hole in the Nuuanu watershed above Honolulu. On the Big Island, the Green Sand Beach near South Point is a 2.5-mile walk to olivine sand — swimming is possible but surf-dependent.
