Wyoming's hot springs geography is dominated by Yellowstone, which has more geothermal features than the rest of the world combined. Boiling River, just inside the North Entrance, is the one place where hot spring water legally meets the Gardner River for soaking — when open (periodic closures for water quality). Hot springs outside the park include Saratoga Hot Springs on the North Platte River — a free municipal pool open 24/7 year-round, maintained by the town of Saratoga. Thermopolis in the Big Horn Basin has what is promoted as the world's largest mineral hot spring, with free soaking in the state-mandated free section of Hot Springs State Park.
