Hot Springs in Oregon
Oregon's hot springs are scattered across the Cascade Range and the Basin and Range terrain of the south. Cougar Hot Springs (Terwilliger) near Eugene is a series of four natural pools in the Willamette National Forest at increasing temperatures — one of the most visited backcountry springs in the Pacific Northwest. Umpqua Hot Springs in the Umpqua National Forest near Crater Lake is a single ledge pool above the North Umpqua River — clothing-optional and very popular, day-use only. Hart Mountain Hot Spring in the Sheldon-Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge is a free concrete pool in the high desert, open year-round. Alvord Hot Springs near the Alvord Desert has two developed soaking tubs in a plywood shack with a direct view of Steens Mountain.
Always test water temperature before soaking. Some natural hot springs exceed 150°F and are dangerous. Never soak alone in remote sites. Explore all hot springs on the Trek4Free map →
