Hot Springs in Nevada

Nevada's hot springs are scattered across the Basin and Range terrain. Spencer Hot Springs east of Austin is a free BLM site — one of the most accessible and well-known in the state — with both tubs and a natural pool in a desert setting. The Virgin Valley area has geothermal features including the warm waters that feed the opal fields. Caliente Hot Springs and the historic Caliente Hot Springs Motel have served travelers on US-93 since the railroad era. Kyle Hot Springs near Winnemucca is a free BLM site requiring a high-clearance vehicle. Many Nevada springs are unmarked, unimproved, and hard to find — Nevada has a strong tradition of secretive spring discovery.
