Hot Springs in Arkansas

Arkansas's most notable hot spring geography is Hot Springs National Park — the only US National Park built around a thermal spring system. Forty-seven hot springs emerge from Hot Springs Mountain at a consistent 143°F, the result of rainwater percolating 8,000 feet into the earth, heating, and rising along fault lines. The park's historic Bathhouse Row preserves eight grand bathhouses from the early 20th century spa era. The Buckstaff Bathhouse is the only one still operating in the original fashion. The park is entirely within the city of Hot Springs, making it the most urban national park in the system.
