Free Camping in Vermont
Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest permits dispersed camping on most national forest land. The Long Trail corridor has established shelters, but the adjacent national forest allows dispersed camping. The Breadloaf Wilderness in Addison County and the Peru Peak Wilderness in Bennington County are the most remote zones. Vermont's moose population makes dispersed camping particularly memorable in the northeast kingdom area.
