Free Camping in Oklahoma
Oklahoma's dispersed camping options are in the Ouachita National Forest in the southeast corner. The Talimena National Scenic Byway runs along the ridgeline of the Ouachitas with dispersed camping off the many spur roads. The Winding Stair Mountain National Recreation Area has the most organized backcountry — primitive camping throughout the Wilderness area.
No reservations needed for dispersed camping. Check fire restrictions at fs.usda.gov before your trip — restrictions change frequently in summer. Stay limit is typically 14 days at any one location. Find free camping on the Trek4Free map →
