Free Camping in New Hampshire

26 No-Fee Sites 2 with Restroom 1 with Water

New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest permits dispersed camping throughout most of its terrain, with some restrictions near developed recreation areas. The Pemigewasset Wilderness has backcountry dispersed camping accessible from Lincoln Woods and the Kancamagus Highway trailheads. The Presidential Range backcountry has tenting platforms and dispersed sites above treeline. NH dispersed camping has a 200-foot buffer from trails, water, and campsites.

No reservations needed for dispersed camping. Check fire restrictions at fs.usda.gov before your trip — restrictions change frequently in summer. Stay limit is typically 14 days at any one location. Find free camping on the Trek4Free map →
