Free Camping in Louisiana
Louisiana has limited national forest dispersed camping but the Kisatchie National Forest — the only national forest in Louisiana — allows dispersed camping in its five ranger districts across the state. The Kisatchie Hills Wilderness in Grant Parish is the most remote zone. The Catahoula Ranger District along Saline Lake has some dispersed sites accessible by dirt road.
No reservations needed for dispersed camping. Check fire restrictions at fs.usda.gov before your trip — restrictions change frequently in summer. Stay limit is typically 14 days at any one location. Find free camping on the Trek4Free map →
Before You Go
