Free Camping in Florida
Florida's Ocala National Forest is the only national forest in the US with three freshwater springs — Alexander, Juniper, and Silver Glen. Dispersed camping in the Ocala is limited compared to western forests but exists on some forest roads. The Apalachicola National Forest in the panhandle has primitive camping in the flatwoods. Florida's big camping terrain is actually at the state level — Ocala NF dispersed camping, then state forest land. Most Florida dispersed camping areas are seasonal due to insect pressure.
No reservations needed for dispersed camping. Check fire restrictions at fs.usda.gov before your trip — restrictions change frequently in summer. Stay limit is typically 14 days at any one location. Find free camping on the Trek4Free map →
Before You Go
Gear up for dispersed camping — no hookups, no camp store, no running water
