Night Paddle
The water looks different after dark. Your headlamp cone doesn't reach shore. The wind that pushed you out is now in your face on the return. You check your bearing, you keep paddling, and eventually you see the beach. There is no formal badge for this — no race organization, no governing body, no certificate. Trek4Free made one. You earned it by going.

Good to Know
If the event says "complete by 8pm" — that is not a departure time. Learn from others. Launch with enough daylight to gauge conditions before the light goes.
A headlamp is mandatory. Waterproof is better. Know where your landing point is before it gets dark — your spatial memory has to fill in what you can't see.
Wind that's at your back going out is in your face coming home. Factor this into your timeline. The second half of a night paddle is always harder than the first.
Trek4Free runs entirely on the honor system. The mosquito bites on your arms are your documentation. Mark it when you've done it — we trust you.
Origin Story
This badge was created for Polly, who paddled three miles across Copano Bay in the dark, into a thirteen-mile headwind, with insufficient flashlights, and landed on a beach that was actively hostile to human life. She asked if there was a badge for that. There wasn't. Now there is.
