Continental Divide Trail

~3,000 miles from the Chihuahuan Desert in New Mexico to Waterton Lakes National Park in Montana. Through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana along the Continental Divide — the wildest and most remote of the Triple Crown trails. If you completed it, this certificate is yours.

Is there an official CDT certificate?

Yes — the Continental Divide Trail Coalition recognizes completions. Report your finish at continentaldividetrail.org for official CDTC recognition.

The CDT is the least-defined of the Triple Crown — many sections have official and alternate routes, and conditions change year to year. Any recognized end-to-end completion qualifies for this badge.

The Trek4Free badge is your digital companion — dated to when you claimed it, downloadable and shareable.

Distance & Route

Approximately 3,000 miles from Lordsburg, New Mexico to Waterton Lakes, Alberta through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. The exact mileage varies with route choices.

The Wildest Triple Crown

The CDT is significantly more remote and less-defined than the AT or PCT. Many sections are unmarked. Navigation skills matter. Fewer than 500 people complete it each year — making it the rarest Triple Crown finisher.

CDTC Recognition

The Continental Divide Trail Coalition tracks and recognizes completions. The CDT's fluid route means completion criteria have evolved — contact the CDTC for current guidance on what qualifies.

Honor System

Trek4Free runs on the honor system. If you completed the CDT end-to-end by any recognized route, check the box and download your badge. Nobody argues the divide with someone who's walked it.
