New Jersey's cave geography is limited to a few limestone areas in the northwest corner near the Delaware Water Gap. The caves here are small and mostly on private land. The geological province continues into Pennsylvania where cave systems are better developed and more accessible — Penn's Cave and Crystal Cave are about two hours west.
Every cave listed here is on public or accessible land. Always bring three light sources, water, and let someone know your plans before entering any undeveloped cave. Temperature inside: typically 50–62°F year-round. Explore all caves on the Trek4Free map →
