Montana's cave geography runs through the limestone ranges along the Continental Divide. Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park is the most developed, a show cave in the Jefferson River valley with guided tours through stalactite corridors. Beyond that, Montana cave terrain is largely wild — significant cave systems in the Madison and Bridger ranges that require route-finding and permits. This is among the most remote cave country in the lower 48.
